Google Chrome: Out-of-bounds read in Focus component

CVE-2026-113095High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome desktop builds before 156.0.8078.47 contain an out-of-bounds read in the Focus component. A remote attacker can exploit it by luring a user to a crafted HTML page, which may allow arbitrary code execution inside the browser sandbox. User interaction is required, but no privileges are needed. The CNA rates the issue High (CVSS 8.8).

Affected

  • Google Chrome desktop builds prior to 156.0.8078.47 (CVE record and release reporting)
  • Windows and macOS: 156.0.8078.47 or .48 per secondary reporting, not verified against the vendor page
  • Android: reported as affected before 156.0.8078.47, not verified

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 (Linux)
  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 or 156.0.8078.48 (Windows, macOS; verify against the vendor advisory)

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor workaround is known; apply the update.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of in-the-wild exploitation found.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA KEV status not verified directly.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome to 156.0.8078.47 or later on all endpoints, and check Chromium-based browsers and Microsoft Edge against their vendors' advisories.
  • Restart the browser after the update so the new version is active.
  • Verify installed versions with policy or inventory tooling.
  • Deploy this fix as part of the Chrome 156 batch update.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
