TOTOLINK X2000R: Stack-based buffer overflow in boa formTR069Config

CVE-2026-9869Critical 9.1

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A stack-based buffer overflow in the boa web management handler formTR069Config of the TOTOLINK X2000R home router can be triggered by a crafted HTTP request. An attacker with valid credentials for the web interface can use it to execute arbitrary code on the device, with a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.1. The CVSS vector assumes high privileges (PR:H), and no fix or vendor advisory is available yet.

Affected

  • TOTOLINK X2000R, firmware TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 (the only version listed in the sources)

Fixed in

Unknown.

Workaround

  • No vendor-specific workaround is known.
  • Restrict access to the web and TR-069 management interface to trusted networks only and do not expose it on the WAN.
  • Change default and weak administrator passwords.
  • Check whether TR-069 remote management is enabled and disable it if it is not needed.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC rates exploitation as "none" and automatable as "no".
  • No public proof of concept or exploit was found in the research.
  • The CVE is not listed in CISA KEV.

Our recommendation

  • Identify all TOTOLINK X2000R devices and confirm the firmware version.
  • Check whether the management interface or TR-069 is reachable from the internet and close access if it is.
  • Change all administrator passwords.
  • Check the TOTOLINK support site regularly for a firmware fix and follow the Talos and NVD entries for updates.
  • Priority: high if the device is internet-facing or uses default credentials, otherwise medium.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
