TOTOLINK X2000R: Arbitrary file write in boa formUploadFile
Summary
The boa web management interface of the TOTOLINK X2000R router contains an arbitrary file write vulnerability in the formUploadFile handler. An attacker with valid administrative credentials can send a specially crafted HTTP request that writes files to attacker-chosen paths, which can lead to arbitrary code execution on the device. Exploitation requires authentication, and the CVSS vector requires high privileges (PR:H).
Affected
- TOTOLINK X2000R, firmware TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 (confirmed by Cisco Talos)
- Other firmware versions: Unknown.
Fixed in
Unknown.
Workaround
- No CVE-specific workaround is known.
- Remove any WAN-side access to the router administration interface.
- Restrict administrative access to a dedicated management network.
- Replace default administrator credentials.
Exploitation
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, not automatable.
- Not listed in CISA KEV.
- No public proof-of-concept or exploitation reports were found at the time of research.
Our recommendation
- Inventory all TOTOLINK X2000R devices and confirm the firmware version.
- Remove WAN access to the admin interface and restrict it to a management VLAN.
- Replace default or weak passwords with strong, unique credentials.
- Monitor TOTOLINK and the Cisco Talos advisory TALOS-2026-2430 for a firmware fix and apply it as soon as it is available.
- Review device logs for unexpected administrative requests.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
