IBM Langflow OSS: Remote code execution via OS command injection

CVE-2026-97679High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.12.2 contain a code injection flaw (CWE-94) related to improper input validation in OS command handling. A remote attacker with valid credentials can execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the Langflow service. Authentication is required, and the CVSS base score is 8.8 (High). Langflow hosts often store API keys and connect to other systems, so the impact can extend beyond the instance itself.

Affected

  • IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 to 1.12.2 (inclusive)

Fixed in

  • Upgrade to IBM Langflow OSS 1.12.3 or later (IBM recommends addressing this now).

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround is listed in the available sources.
  • Interim measures (recommended, not from the vendor): do not expose Langflow to the internet, place it behind authenticated access or a reverse proxy, and limit the accounts that can create or edit flows.

Exploitation

  • No public exploit or proof-of-concept found at the time of research.
  • The CNA's SSVC data rates exploitation as none and automatable as no.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV according to a third-party tracker.

Our recommendation

  • Upgrade all Langflow OSS instances in the affected range to version 1.12.3 or later.
  • Identify all Langflow instances, including test and shared installations, and prioritise internet-facing or credential-holding ones.
  • Restrict access to Langflow to trusted users and reduce the number of accounts that can create or edit flows.
  • Rotate API keys and credentials stored on Langflow hosts if compromise is suspected.
  • Monitor for unusual flow-building or unexpected process activity on Langflow servers.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Research sources

Original description (NVD)

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.12.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code due to improper neutralization of special elements used in an OS command ('Code Injection') related to improper input validation.
