TOTOLINK X2000R: Stack-based buffer overflow in boa formFilter via vpnPassword
Summary
The boa web administration component of the TOTOLINK X2000R router firmware TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 contains a stack-based buffer overflow in the formFilter function, triggered through the vpnPassword parameter. An attacker who is logged in to the web interface can send a crafted HTTP request that overflows the stack and may lead to arbitrary code execution on the device. Exploitation requires valid credentials and the vpnPassword code path to be reached, which the advisory describes as a condition met by setting the addFilterIp parameter. The vendor has not confirmed a fix.
Affected
- TOTOLINK X2000R, firmware TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327
- Other firmware versions: Unknown.
Fixed in
Unknown.
Workaround
- No vendor workaround confirmed for this CVE.
- Restrict access to the web administration interface to trusted internal hosts and do not expose it to the internet.
Exploitation
- No evidence of exploitation in the wild found.
- CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.
- No public proof of concept found in the sources reviewed.
Our recommendation
- Inventory all TOTOLINK X2000R devices in your environment.
- Block management access from the internet and limit it to trusted internal hosts.
- Use strong, unique administrator credentials.
- Check TOTOLINK's support site for newer firmware and ask the vendor whether this flaw is fixed.
- Monitor the devices for unusual administrative activity.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
Multiple exploitable stack-based buffer overflow vulnerabilities exist in the boa formFilter functionality of X2000R (version(s): TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327). A specially crafted HTTP request can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can make an authenticated HTTP request to trigger these vulnerabilities. This vulnerability deals with the vpnPassword parameter.
