Fixed in

  • Version 1.9.9.8.2 of the WPLMS plugin (per the CVE record and Patchstack)

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround known.
  • Patchstack has issued a mitigation rule; availability for your setup is unknown.
  • Generic measures such as restricting access to WPLMS endpoints and using a WAF with SQL injection rules may reduce risk until patching is complete.

Exploitation

  • CISA KEV: not listed.
  • EPSS: 0.0025.
  • Public proof of concept: none found, not confirmed absent.
  • Exploited in the wild: no evidence found, status unknown.
  • Patchstack describes the issue as expected to be exploited and used in mass-exploit campaigns.

Our recommendation

  • Identify all WPLMS installations and confirm whether the plugin or the theme is in use and at which version.
  • Update the WPLMS plugin to version 1.9.9.8.2 or later immediately.
  • If patching is not possible right away, restrict access to affected endpoints and enable WAF protection.
  • Review web server and WAF logs for SQL injection patterns.
  • Check for new proof-of-concept code and KEV listing, as NVD analysis is still pending.
