  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Verify the KB for CVE-2026-96306 in the MSRC Security Updates table, then apply the October 2026 cumulative update to Windows 10 1607 and Server 2016.
  • Confirm ESU eligibility for Windows 10 1607 and the end-of-support status of Server 2016 with Microsoft.
  • Review the reported Exchange mail issue after KB5126868 before rollout.
  • Restrict local logon to trusted users on affected systems and monitor for unexpected privilege changes.
