Click n Chat WordPress plugin: SQL injection via sort parameters

CVE-2026-92998High 8.6

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

The Click n Chat (Chat Widget Integration) WordPress plugin does not sanitise the 'sort_by' and 'sort_order' parameters before using them in a SQL ORDER BY clause. An unauthenticated remote attacker can send crafted requests to inject SQL and may read or alter database content. The flaw is reachable on any public WordPress site where the affected plugin version is active.

Affected

  • Click n Chat (Chat Widget Integration) WordPress plugin, versions 1.0.4 to 1.1.2
  • Versions before 1.0.4: Unknown.
  • Affected range is reported inconsistently across sources (VulDB: up to 1.1.2; Strix: >= 1.0.4, < 1.1.3).

Fixed in

  • Version 1.1.3 (WPScan lists this as the fixed version; vendor confirmation of the 1.1.3 changelog: Unknown.)

Workaround

  • Update to version 1.1.3 or later as the primary action.
  • Until the update is applied, a web application firewall rule may reject or sanitise anomalous 'sort_by' and 'sort_order' parameters. This is a third-party suggestion and can be bypassed, so treat it as temporary.
  • If the plugin is not needed, deactivate and remove it.

Exploitation

  • CISA KEV: not listed (not verified on the CISA site).
  • EPSS: 0.00359 (very low predicted exploitation probability).
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact partial.
  • Public proof of concept: Unknown.
  • No reports of in-the-wild exploitation found.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether the Click n Chat plugin is installed on any WordPress site, especially public sites that hold customer data.
  • Update the plugin to version 1.1.3 or later. This also covers CVE-2026-92997 (SQL injection via the 'datacolumn' parameter), which is fixed in the same release.
  • Review web server logs for requests with unusual 'sort_by' or 'sort_order' parameters.
  • Verify the installed version and the 1.1.3 changelog directly on the plugin's page, as vendor confirmation was not found.
  • Monitor for further exploitation indicators and check the WPScan page for proof-of-concept updates.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
