TeamViewer Full Client: Out-of-bounds write in screen-image decoder allows code execution
Summary
TeamViewer Full Client for Linux and macOS prior to version 15.83 contains an out-of-bounds write in the screen-image decoder. A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code by sending crafted screen-image data during a remote-control session, or by persuading a user to open a crafted TeamViewer session recording (.tvs). Exploitation requires user interaction.
Affected
- TeamViewer Full Client for Linux and macOS prior to 15.83
- Legacy 14.7 branch for Linux and macOS prior to 14.7.48868
- Legacy 13.2 branch: Linux prior to 13.2.154008, macOS prior to 13.2.154007
Fixed in
- Current branch: 15.83 or later
- Legacy 14.7: 14.7.48868
- Legacy 13.2: 13.2.154008 (Linux), 13.2.154007 (macOS)
Workaround
Unknown. The vendor lists no workaround; update is the only documented remedy.
Exploitation
- The vendor reports no known active exploitation at publication.
- Not listed in the CISA KEV catalog at the time of research.
- No public exploit code found in Metasploit or Exploit-DB; VulDB lists no exploit available.
- Status as of 31 Oct 2026; the window since disclosure (27 Oct 2026) is short.
Our recommendation
- Update TeamViewer Full Client and Host on Linux and macOS to 15.83 or the matching legacy build as soon as possible.
- Inventory all TeamViewer installations, including Host and Portable copies.
- Prioritise helpdesk and support workstations that connect to external partners.
- Avoid opening .tvs files from untrusted sources and avoid sessions with unknown hosts until patched.
- Also patch CVE-2026-111585 (integer overflow, Windows, Linux, macOS, Android) and CVE-2026-92374 (macOS local privilege escalation) from the same bulletin.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
An out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the screen-image decoder of TeamViewer Full Client for Linux and macOS prior to version 15.83 allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code by supplying crafted screen-image data during a remote-control session. The vulnerability can also be exploited by persuading a user to open a specially crafted TeamViewer session recording (.tvs). Missing destination bounds checking in the decoder allows crafted screen-image data to cause an out-of-bounds write to the image buffer. Exploitation requires user interaction.
