Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition: Privilege escalation in Platform Security
Summary
Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition versions 8.2.0.0.0 and 12.2.1.4.0 contain a vulnerability in the Platform Security component. An attacker with logon access to the infrastructure where the product runs can compromise the BI platform, with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.8. Exploitation requires user interaction by a person other than the attacker, and a successful attack can lead to full takeover of the product.
Affected
- Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 8.2.0.0.0
- Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 12.2.1.4.0
- Version 26.1.0.0.0 is listed in Oracle's October 2026 CPU product list, but it is not confirmed for this CVE.
Fixed in
Unknown. Fixed in Oracle Critical Patch Update October 2026; exact patch numbers are in the Oracle Analytics Patch Availability Document.
Workaround
Unknown. The CVE record provides no workaround. Interim measure: restrict who can log on to the BI host and its infrastructure.
Exploitation
- Not listed in CISA KEV.
- CISA SSVC: exploitation none, not automatable, technical impact total.
- No public proof of concept or in-the-wild exploitation known at the time of research.
Our recommendation
- Confirm whether 8.2.0.0.0 or 12.2.1.4.0 (or 26.1.0.0.0) is in use.
- Apply the October 2026 Critical Patch Update for Oracle Analytics from the Patch Availability Document, not only this CVE.
- Until patched, limit logon access to the BI server and its management infrastructure.
- Monitor CISA KEV and Oracle advisories for exploitation signals.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
