Oracle HTTP Server: Improper privilege management allows takeover of the server
Summary
CVE-2026-91473 affects Oracle HTTP Server 12.2.1.4.0 in the Web Listener component. A low-privileged attacker with logon to the host where Oracle HTTP Server runs can compromise it, with a successful attack resulting in takeover of the server. The attack is local, has low complexity and needs no user interaction, so it is not an internet-facing unauthenticated flaw.
Affected
- Oracle HTTP Server 12.2.1.4.0 (component Web Listener)
- Other branches: Unknown.
Fixed in
Unknown. Check the Oracle Critical Patch Update October 2026 (OHS section) and Oracle's Patch Availability Document for 12.2.1.4.0.
Workaround
Unknown. No vendor-documented mitigation found.
- Until patched, restrict local logon to the host and tighten account management (general measure, not vendor-sourced).
Exploitation
- Not listed in CISA KEV.
- CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
- No public exploit found; VulDB states there is no available exploit.
- Vendor exploitation data: Unknown.
Our recommendation
- Check whether Oracle HTTP Server 12.2.1.4.0 is in use, for example with Oracle E-Business Suite, WebLogic, or Forms/Reports.
- If it is in use, apply the Oracle October 2026 CPU patch for 12.2.1.4.0.
- Until patched, restrict local logon on the host and review accounts with shell or logon rights.
- Monitor OHS and host logs for unusual activity.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
