Oracle Outside In Technology: Deserialization of untrusted data in Image Export SDK

CVE-2026-91459High 7.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Oracle Outside In Technology, specifically the Image Export SDK component, contains a deserialization flaw (CWE-502) that affects version 8.5.8. An attacker with local logon to a system where the SDK runs can compromise the library, but exploitation requires a user to interact with a malicious input. According to the CVE record, a successful attack can lead to full takeover of the affected component (CVSS 3.1: 7.8, High).

Affected

  • Oracle Outside In Technology 8.5.8 (Image Export SDK component)

Fixed in

  • Unknown. Obtain the fixed version and patch number from the Oracle October 2026 Critical Patch Update advisory (Outside In risk matrix) or from Oracle Support (MOS).

Workaround

  • Unknown. Oracle has not published a workaround in the sources reviewed.
  • If patching is delayed, identify applications that load the Image Export SDK and restrict who can submit files to them.

Exploitation

  • Not listed in CISA KEV.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
  • No public proof of concept found in the research. This does not prove that none exists.

Our recommendation

  • Ask application vendors whether their products embed Oracle Outside In and whether they have shipped the October 2026 CPU.
  • Apply the vendor patch as soon as it is available and verify the fixed version in Oracle's advisory.
  • Restrict uploads and file inputs to affected applications, especially those accepting files from external users.
  • Monitor for unexpected processes or file activity on hosts running affected applications.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
