Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools: Privilege escalation in Installation Security
Summary
Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools versions 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.26.5 contain an improper privilege management flaw (CWE-269) in the Installation Security component. A low-privileged user with a logon to the host running EnterpriseOne Tools can exploit it with low complexity and no user interaction to take over the product, with high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability. The attacker must already have a valid local account, so the main risk is escalation after a stolen or misused account or lateral movement.
Affected
- Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.26.5
Fixed in
- Fixed in Oracle's October 2026 Critical Patch Update (published 20 Oct 2026). The first fixed patch level for this CVE is unknown; check the JD Edwards section of the advisory.
Workaround
- No workaround documented. Patching is the only documented remedy.
- Until patched, limit interactive and shell logons to JDE hosts to administrators.
Exploitation
- Oracle has not stated exploitation of this CVE.
- Not listed in CISA KEV as of 21 Oct 2026; EPSS below 1%.
- No public proof of concept found; search coverage was limited.
Our recommendation
- Apply the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools patch from Oracle's October 2026 CPU that applies to your release.
- Restrict logons to JDE hosts and review local accounts on those hosts.
- Monitor for changes to JDE installation directories and services.
- Patch the whole JDE stack in the same window, including CVE-2026-91299 (CVSS 10.0).
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
