Oracle Solaris: Denial of service and information disclosure in Services component

CVE-2026-91252High 8.2

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A flaw in the Services component of Oracle Solaris 11.4 can be triggered over the network via HTTP without authentication. An attacker can cause a hang or repeatable crash of the system and read a subset of accessible data. The CVSS vector indicates high availability impact and low confidentiality impact, with no integrity impact.

Affected

  • Oracle Solaris 11.4 (Services component)

Fixed in

  • Unknown. The fix is likely part of the October 2026 Critical Patch Update; the exact Solaris 11.4 SRU and patch ID must be confirmed in the Oracle advisory or My Oracle Support.

Workaround

  • No vendor-published workaround known.
  • Restrict network access to HTTP-facing Solaris services to trusted sources using firewall rules or network segmentation (general hardening, not a vendor statement).

Exploitation

  • Not listed in CISA KEV.
  • No known exploitation in the wild.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • EPSS score reported as 0.00408 (low).
  • CISA SSVC: automatable yes, technical impact partial.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether any Solaris 11.4 host is reachable from the internet or untrusted networks; prioritise these hosts.
  • Confirm the fixed SRU and patch ID in the October 2026 CPU advisory (check the current revision) and apply it via the SRU and pkg update.
  • Until patched, limit HTTP access to trusted sources.
  • Monitor for unusual HTTP traffic and service crashes on Solaris hosts.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
