Oracle BPM Suite: Improper access control in Fabric Layer
Summary
Oracle Business Process Management Suite (part of Oracle Fusion Middleware, component Fabric Layer) versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.0.0 contain an improper access control flaw (CWE-284). An attacker with a low-privileged account and network access via HTTP can create, modify or delete critical data and access data the product can reach, with impact beyond the product itself (scope change). The CVSS 3.1 base score is 9.6 (critical). Exploitation in the wild is not known.
Affected
- Oracle Business Process Management Suite 12.2.1.4.0
- Oracle Business Process Management Suite 14.1.2.0.0
Fixed in
- Fix included in the Oracle Critical Patch Update of October 2026 (published 20 October 2026).
- Patch number and fixed release: Unknown. Check the Oracle advisory and My Oracle Support.
Workaround
- Unknown. No Oracle-confirmed workaround.
- Generic hardening: restrict HTTP access to BPM Suite to trusted IP ranges or VPNs and make sure only authenticated users can reach Fabric Layer endpoints.
- Review BPM user accounts and self-registration.
Exploitation
- Not known to be exploited in the wild as of 21 October 2026.
- Not in the CISA KEV catalog as of 21 October 2026.
- No public proof of concept found in the research; not checked in depth.
Our recommendation
- Check whether Oracle BPM Suite 12.2.1.4.0 or 14.1.2.0.0 is in use.
- If it is, apply the October 2026 Oracle Critical Patch Update.
- Make sure BPM endpoints are not directly reachable from the internet.
- Review logs for unexpected HTTP requests to Fabric Layer endpoints.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
