Oracle Business Process Management Suite: Authorization flaw in Human Workflow
Summary
Oracle Business Process Management (BPM) Suite versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.0.0 contain a flaw in the Human Workflow component that is reachable via SOAP. An attacker with a low-privileged account and network access can take over the product without user interaction. Because of a scope change, the attack may also significantly affect other products. NVD analysis is still pending, and the CVSS base score is 9.9 (critical).
Affected
- Oracle Business Process Management Suite 12.2.1.4.0
- Oracle Business Process Management Suite 14.1.2.0.0
- Component: Human Workflow (11g+)
Fixed in
Unknown. The fix is expected in the October 2026 Critical Patch Update; the patch ID has not been confirmed.
Workaround
- No workaround is provided in the CVE record or by Oracle.
- Third-party guidance (not Oracle): restrict SOAP access to trusted networks, enforce authentication and authorization on SOAP operations, disable unneeded services and monitor SOAP logs, as a temporary measure until the patch is applied.
Exploitation
- No known exploitation (not listed in CISA KEV).
- No public proof of concept found.
- CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.
Our recommendation
- Check whether Oracle BPM Suite 12.2.1.4.0 or 14.1.2.0.0 is in use, including at clients.
- Apply the October 2026 Critical Patch Update per Oracle's advisory once the patch ID is confirmed.
- Until patched, limit SOAP and remoting endpoints to trusted networks and review low-privileged accounts.
- Monitor Oracle, NVD and CISA KEV for updates, as the CVE is still under analysis.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
