Oracle Service Bus: Takeover via HTTP by low-privileged attacker
Summary
Oracle Service Bus, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, contains a vulnerability in the Core component that can be exploited over HTTP. An attacker with a low-privileged account and network access can compromise the product, and successful attacks can lead to a takeover of Oracle Service Bus. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.8, and the CWE is CWE-200 (information exposure), which may understate the impact.
Affected
- Oracle Service Bus 12.2.1.4.0
- Oracle Service Bus 14.1.2.0.0
Fixed in
Unknown. Oracle's October 2026 Critical Patch Update (Rev 2) is reported to address this CVE, but the patch identifiers and fixed versions could not be verified from the Oracle advisory.
- Version 14.1.2.1.0 is mentioned in a third-party article for other CVEs in the same CPU and is unverified for this CVE.
Workaround
Unknown. No workaround is provided by the vendor.
- Restrict network access to the Oracle Service Bus HTTP interfaces and admin consoles to trusted sources until patched.
Exploitation
- Not listed in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalogue.
- CISA SSVC data: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
- No public proof of concept found. This means no reports were found, not that none exists.
- EPSS score: not found.
Our recommendation
- Inventory all Oracle Service Bus instances and their network exposure.
- Apply the Oracle October 2026 Critical Patch Update to all affected instances and verify the fixed version in the Oracle advisory.
- Restrict and monitor HTTP access to Oracle Service Bus until patched.
- Review access logs for unexpected activity and review low-privileged and shared accounts.
- Patch all Oracle Service Bus instances, including those tied to CVE-2026-87364, CVE-2026-87419 and CVE-2026-87369.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
