Oracle Access Manager: Improper access control in Authentication Engine
Summary
Oracle Access Manager, part of Oracle Fusion Middleware, contains a flaw in the Authentication Engine component that allows improper access control. An unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP can compromise the product without logging in. Successful attacks can lead to unauthorized read access to critical data, unauthorized modification or deletion of some data, and a partial denial of service. CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.6 (High).
Affected
- Oracle Access Manager 12.2.1.4.0
- Oracle Access Manager 14.1.2.0.0 (the Tenable plugin and other coverage list 14.1.2.1.0 instead; to be confirmed in the Oracle advisory)
Fixed in
- Fixed in the Oracle October 2026 Critical Patch Update (CPU), published 20 October 2026.
- Specific patch numbers and fixed build versions: Unknown.
Workaround
- No vendor workaround known. Unknown.
- Restrict network access to the Access Manager HTTP endpoints to trusted networks only. This reduces exposure but is not a substitute for patching.
Exploitation
- Oracle does not state that this vulnerability is exploited.
- CISA SSVC assessment: Exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact partial.
- Not listed in the CISA KEV catalog as of 21 October 2026 (recheck, as this can change).
- No public proof-of-concept found. Unknown.
Our recommendation
- Inventory all Oracle Access Manager instances, their versions and whether they are reachable from the internet.
- Apply the October 2026 Oracle CPU to all affected instances, prioritising internet-facing systems. Check the Oracle advisory for the exact fixed builds.
- Until patched, restrict access to the HTTP endpoints to necessary networks.
- Monitor the CISA KEV catalog and Oracle security alerts for changes.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
Vulnerability in the Oracle Access Manager product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Authentication Engine). Supported versions that are affected are 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.0.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Access Manager. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Access Manager accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Access Manager accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of Oracle Access Manager. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 8.6 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:L).
