Oracle Identity Manager: Privilege escalation via OIM Legacy UI
Summary
A flaw in the OIM Legacy UI component of Oracle Identity Manager (versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0) allows an attacker with a low-privileged account and network access via HTTPS to compromise the product. According to Oracle's CVE record, a successful attack can lead to a takeover of Oracle Identity Manager with high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability. Exploitation requires no user interaction, and no public exploit or evidence of in-the-wild exploitation was found at the time of writing.
Affected
- Oracle Identity Manager 12.2.1.4.0
- Oracle Identity Manager 14.1.2.1.0
- Component: OIM Legacy UI
Fixed in
Unknown. Fixed builds are to be taken from Oracle's October 2026 Critical Patch Update advisory (risk matrix) or My Oracle Support.
Workaround
Unknown. No vendor-published workaround was found. Interim measure: restrict network access to the OIM Legacy UI to admin networks or VPN.
Exploitation
- CVSS 3.1 base score 8.8 (High), vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
- CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total
- No KEV listing, exploitation report or public proof of concept found
- NVD analysis and CWE (CWE-284) still awaiting confirmation
Our recommendation
- Check whether Oracle Identity Manager is in use and whether the OIM Legacy UI is reachable from the internet or untrusted networks
- Restrict access to the OIM Legacy UI to admin networks or VPN as an interim measure
- Apply the October 2026 Oracle Critical Patch Update, verifying the fixed build in the advisory
- Review accounts with low privileges on the OIM and monitor for suspicious activity
- Recheck CISA KEV and exploitation status in the coming days
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
