Adobe ColdFusion: Incorrect Authorization leads to arbitrary code execution
Summary
Adobe ColdFusion 2025 (up to 2025.0.13) and ColdFusion 2023 (up to 2023.0.25) contain an Incorrect Authorization flaw (CWE-863). An attacker who can reach the vulnerable component over the adjacent network can execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user, without privileges or user interaction. By default the component is restricted to an administrative network zone, so exposure depends on whether ColdFusion administrative paths are reachable from untrusted networks. Adobe's bulletin copies list different scores, so the CVSS value is uncertain.
Affected
- Adobe ColdFusion 2025: 0 through 2025.0.13
- Adobe ColdFusion 2023: 0 through 2023.0.25
Fixed in
- Adobe ColdFusion 2025: 2025.0.14 (Update 14)
- Adobe ColdFusion 2023: 2023.0.26 (Update 26)
Workaround
No CVE-specific workaround documented. Adobe recommends applying the ColdFusion security configuration settings and reviewing the relevant Lockdown guides.
Exploitation
- Adobe is not aware of any exploits in the wild for the issues in this update.
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, not automatable.
- No public proof of concept found; not independently verified.
Our recommendation
- Update ColdFusion 2025 to 2025.0.14 and ColdFusion 2023 to 2023.0.26 as soon as possible and treat the update as high priority.
- Restrict access to ColdFusion administrative and management interfaces to trusted internal networks; do not expose them to the internet.
- Check which ColdFusion instances exist and whether they are reachable from untrusted networks.
- Review logs for unusual administrative requests and unexpected processes on ColdFusion servers.
- Test the update first and follow the security configuration and lockdown guides, because Adobe lists changes that may affect existing applications.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
ColdFusion is affected by an Incorrect Authorization vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code. The vulnerable component is restricted to an administrative network zone by default. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. Scope is changed.
