CVE-2026-66246High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

HCL iControl, an operational intelligence and KPI monitoring product, contains a broken access control flaw (CWE-250) that includes missing authentication checks and insecure direct object references. An authenticated attacker with a low-privilege account can reach objects they should not access, which may allow privilege escalation and the unauthorized modification or deletion of sensitive application data. The record lists v4.5.0 as affected and the CVSS score is 8.8 (HIGH). Exploitation is not known.

Affected

  • HCL iControl v4.5.0 (per CVE record; default status unaffected)
  • Status of other versions: Unknown.

Fixed in

  • Unknown. Vendor advisory KB0133940 must be checked for the fixed version.

Workaround

  • No vendor-published workaround found.
  • Interim measures (not vendor guidance): restrict network access to internal management networks or VPN, apply least privilege, review user roles and object-level permissions.

Exploitation

  • Exploited in the wild: none known.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no.
  • Public proof of concept: none found in the research.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether iControl is in use and which version runs; confirm that v4.5.0 or other affected versions are present.
  • Review KB0133940 for the fixed version and apply the vendor patch.
  • Ensure iControl is not internet-facing and is limited to trusted internal users.
  • Review user roles and monitor for unexpected data changes or deletions.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
