Homer: SQL injection via unvalidated rawquery in statistics query
Summary
Homer, an open source platform for telecom (SIP/VoIP) call capture and observability, does not validate the rawquery field of the V4StatisticsQuery handler before passing it to DuckDB. Any authenticated user can run arbitrary SQL statements against all data reachable through the FlightSQL service, including sensitive call records and metadata. The attacker needs only a valid low-privilege account and network access to the Homer API.
Affected
- Homer before 11.0.283
- Vendor and third-party sources list versions below 11.0.283 as affected (VulDB describes up to 11.0.282)
Fixed in
- Homer 11.0.283 (validates rawquery with sqlvalidator.ValidateRawSQL, read-only SQL only, fix commit a7d027dc, PR #837)
- Later 11.0.x releases also contain further hardening; check the latest release
Workaround
- No vendor-documented workaround. The fix is the upgrade.
- Interim measure (not from the vendor): restrict access to the Homer web UI and API to management networks or VPN, and rotate credentials for all accounts.
Exploitation
- Not known to be exploited in the wild; not listed in CISA KEV at the time of research.
- CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
- A public proof of concept was not independently confirmed; the attacker still needs valid credentials.
Our recommendation
- Upgrade Homer to 11.0.283 or later, preferably the newest 11.0.x release.
- Before patching, check whether default admin credentials are still in use and change them; the same release removes the hardcoded default admin password.
- Review and restrict who holds Homer accounts; remove unused accounts.
- Limit access to the web UI and API to trusted networks or VPN.
- Review logs for unusual SQL requests to /api/v4/statistics/query.
- Verify that dashboards and queries still work after the update, as non-SELECT statements are now rejected.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
Homer is open source telecom observability software. Prior to version 11.0.283, the `V4StatisticsQuery` handler passes the user-supplied `rawquery` field directly to DuckDB without calling the `sqlvalidator.ValidateRawSQL` function used throughout the rest of the codebase. Any authenticated user can execute arbitrary SQL statements against all data accessible through the FlightSQL service. Version 11.0.283 patches the issue.
