WordPress File Upload: Unauthenticated SQL injection

CVE-2026-62071Critical 9.3

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

The WordPress File Upload plugin (nickboss, now also marketed as Iptanus File Upload) contains an unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability. An attacker can send crafted requests over the network without logging in and read, modify or delete data in the WordPress database, including user accounts and private data. The CVSS score is 9.3 (critical), while CISA SSVC lists exploitation as none and the flaw as automatable.

Affected

  • WordPress File Upload plugin up to and including 5.1.10

Fixed in

  • The CVE record and Patchstack name version 5.2.0 or later as the fix.
  • The vendor's changelog for 5.2.0 describes an unsanitized upload identifier fix, but no source explicitly links it to this CVE.

Workaround

  • No vendor or Patchstack workaround found.
  • If the plugin cannot be updated immediately, disable it on internet-facing sites or place a WAF in front of it.

Exploitation

  • Not listed in CISA KEV. EPSS score unknown.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact partial.
  • No public proof of concept found. This does not prove that none exists.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether the WordPress File Upload plugin is installed and which version runs.
  • Update to 5.2.0 or later and verify the fix against the Patchstack advisory.
  • If an update is not possible at once, disable the plugin or use a WAF.
  • Back up the database and review logs for unusual requests to the plugin's upload endpoints.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
