Broadcom Brocade SANnav: Insecure storage of passwords and tokens in log files

CVE-2026-5047High 8.2

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Brocade SANnav, a management software for storage area networks, writes encoded passwords and authentication tokens into log files. An authenticated attacker who can access these log files, including the SANnav supportsave, can recover the passwords. The vendor describes the stored values as Base64-encoded, which is an encoding and not encryption, so the secrets are easy to recover.

Affected

  • Brocade SANnav versions before 2.4.0b
  • Brocade SANnav 3.0.0 (per CNA record)

Fixed in

  • Brocade SANnav 2.4.0b, 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 according to the CNA record
  • Broadcom support notification lists fixes in SANnav 3.0.1 and 3.0.0a
  • The version list conflicts; confirm the fixed versions in the Broadcom advisory before patching

Workaround

Unknown.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact partial
  • No public exploitation known at the time of research

Our recommendation

  • Update SANnav to a fixed version (3.0.1 or 2.4.0b, verified against the Broadcom advisory)
  • Restrict access to SANnav log files and supportsave archives to trusted administrators
  • Rotate passwords and tokens that may have been stored in logs, and review who had access to them
  • Check whether supportsave archives are shared outside the administration team and delete unneeded copies

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
