Advantech ADAM-3600 EdgeLink: Authentication bypass in proprietary protocol

CVE-2026-43844Critical 9.3

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

CVE-2026-43844 is a critical authentication bypass in the proprietary protocol of the Advantech ADAM-3600 EdgeLink remote terminal unit, which is used for industrial data acquisition and remote monitoring. According to the CVSS 4.0 vector, an unauthenticated attacker on the network can bypass authentication without user interaction, with high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability. No exploitation in the wild or public proof-of-concept has been confirmed.

Affected

  • Advantech ADAM-3600 EdgeLink prior to version 2.8.5.0
  • Default configuration: unaffected (according to the CVE record)

Fixed in

  • Update to version 2.8.5.0 or later (Advantech security update, released October 15, 2026)
  • Exact fixed build to be confirmed against Advantech advisory ACIRT-261001, as some sources cite 2.8.5.1

Workaround

  • No specific workaround documented for this CVE.
  • General hardening: keep the device off the internet, place it behind firewalls and restrict access to the proprietary protocol and web interface to trusted hosts.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable yes, technical impact total.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV.
  • VulDB: no exploit exists.
  • No confirmed exploitation in the wild or public PoC known.

Our recommendation

  • Inventory all ADAM-3600 / EdgeLink devices and their firmware versions.
  • Check whether any device is reachable from the internet or from a flat OT/IT network, and restrict access.
  • Schedule an update to the fixed firmware after verifying the exact build in Advantech's advisory.
  • Patch the whole EdgeLink advisory batch, not only this CVE.
  • Monitor for proof-of-concept releases and CISA KEV additions.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
