QNAP QcalAgent: Path traversal vulnerability

CVE-2026-41544High 8.7

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A path traversal vulnerability in QNAP QcalAgent versions before 1.1.10 allows an authenticated remote attacker to access files or system data outside the intended directories. The attacker needs a valid user account on the device, and the vector is network-based. The official CVE title also mentions arbitrary file move, Docker escape and host code execution, which would be far more severe than the description alone suggests; this is unverified and the impact should be confirmed before relying on the lower score.

Affected

  • QcalAgent 1.1.x before 1.1.10 (per vendor CVE record)
  • Earlier builds: Unknown.

Fixed in

  • QcalAgent 1.1.10 and later

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround known. Unknown.
  • Interim measures (not from a source): do not expose the NAS directly to the internet, reduce user accounts with access, and disable QcalAgent if QCalendar is not used.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, not automatable, technical impact total.
  • Not listed in the CISA KEV catalog according to one aggregator (to be confirmed in the KEV catalog itself).
  • No public proof-of-concept confirmed at this time.

Our recommendation

  • Inventory QNAP devices and check whether QcalAgent is installed and which version it runs.
  • Update QcalAgent to version 1.1.10 or later, starting with internet-facing NAS devices.
  • Review user accounts, remove unused ones and enforce strong passwords and MFA where supported.
  • Monitor the NVD entry and QNAP advisories for confirmation of the impact and CVSS score.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
