← All vulnerabilities

Summary

The WordPress plugin SendPress Newsletters up to and including version 1.26.1.20 contains an SQL injection vulnerability that can be triggered without authentication. An attacker can send crafted requests over the network to run blind SQL injection, which may allow reading, modifying or deleting database content, including subscriber and user data. The plugin is only exploitable on sites where it is installed and active and publicly reachable.

Affected

  • SendPress Newsletters WordPress plugin, all versions up to and including 1.26.1.20
  • Vulnerability type: CWE-89 (SQL Injection), blind

  • VulDB reports 1.26.1.21 or later for a related record (CVE-2026-93855), not verified.

Workaround

  • Deactivate and remove the plugin if newsletters are not actively used.
  • Place a web application firewall or virtual patch in front of the site; coverage for this CVE is not verified.
  • Restrict the database user to the minimum privileges needed.
  • Review web server logs for unusual requests to SendPress endpoints.

Exploitation

  • Not known exploited. No CISA KEV listing found.
  • Public proof of concept: none found.
  • Patchstack rates the flaw as high priority and automatable; CISA SSVC shows exploitation: none.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether the plugin is installed and active on any WordPress site.
  • Disable and remove the plugin if it is not essential; replace it with a maintained alternative if newsletters are needed.
  • If it must stay, apply a WAF or virtual patch and review logs for signs of compromise.
  • Remove stored subscriber data where it is not needed, and treat the issue as critical for sites handling personal data.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
