IBM Security Verify Access: Argument injection enables unauthorized actions

CVE-2026-18740High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

IBM Security Verify Access (10.0 to 10.0.9.2) and IBM Verify Identity Access (11.0 to 11.0.3), including their container editions, contain an argument injection flaw (CWE-88). A remote attacker with valid low-privilege credentials can perform unauthorized actions with high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability, and no user interaction is required. The flaw is part of IBM's October 2026 security bulletin, which covers 22 issues, and the sources found no confirmed exploitation.

Affected

  • IBM Security Verify Access 10.0 through 10.0.9.2 (appliance and container)
  • IBM Verify Identity Access 11.0 through 11.0.3 (appliance and container)

Fixed in

  • IBM Verify Identity Access: v11.0.3.1 (per CNA record)
  • IBM Security Verify Access: v10.0.9.3 (per CNA record)
  • The IBM bulletin also lists v11.0.3.2 and v10.0.9.4 download links; check the bulletin's remediation table for the exact minimum version.

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor or third-party workaround was found; IBM recommends applying the updates.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
  • No known in-the-wild exploitation in the sources reviewed; not listed in CISA KEV at the time of the research.
  • No public exploit or PoC found; EPSS 0.00351 (low).

Our recommendation

  • Confirm the product name, version and deployment type (appliance or container).
  • Apply the IBM bulletin fixes for the affected branch, starting with the newest release, and verify the minimum version in IBM's remediation table.
  • Restrict access to administrative and management interfaces to internal networks.
  • Review accounts with access to the platform and remove unneeded ones.
  • Monitor audit logs and recheck CISA KEV and IBM's bulletin for updates.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
