CVE-2026-18529High 8.7

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

IBM Maximo Application Suite - Location Service for Esri Component versions 9.0, 9.1 and 9.2 contain an OS command injection flaw. A user-controlled value is passed unsanitised to a shell command in a Kubernetes operator task. An attacker with existing high privileges can execute commands, with high impact on confidentiality and integrity and no direct availability impact, and the scope is changed. CISA SSVC rates exploitation as none and not automatable.

Affected

  • IBM Maximo Application Suite - Location Service for Esri Component 9.2
  • IBM Maximo Application Suite - Location Service for Esri Component 9.1
  • IBM Maximo Application Suite - Location Service for Esri Component 9.0

Fixed in

  • Upgrade to 9.2.3
  • Upgrade to 9.1.13
  • Upgrade to 9.0.14
  • The fix is part of a combined IBM bulletin covering six CVEs; one upgrade addresses them for this component.

Workaround

Unknown.

Exploitation

  • No known exploitation. CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV; EPSS below 1%.
  • No public proof of concept found in the sources reviewed.

Our recommendation

  • Check whether any MAS 9.0, 9.1 or 9.2 installation with Location Service for Esri exists, including partner-hosted instances.
  • Plan the upgrade to the fixed versions listed in the IBM bulletin.
  • Until patching, review cluster and application admin roles and restrict access to OpenShift and MAS admin accounts.
  • Monitor the IBM bulletin and CISA KEV for changes.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
