DroidMind: Command injection via shell allowlist bypass
Summary
DroidMind up to version 0.4.0 allows MCP clients to bypass its shell command allowlist using $(...) or backtick substitution. Parameters passed to Device.run_shell() or Device.list_directory() are not validated, so an attacker, including a prompt-injected AI agent, can run blocked commands such as reboot on connected Android devices. The attacker needs a valid MCP client session or agent access to DroidMind and a connected device; the CVSS 4.0 vector specifies local attack vector.
Affected
- DroidMind up to and including 0.4.0 (<= 0.4.0), per the CNA record.
Fixed in
Unknown. No fixed version or vendor patch has been published.
Workaround
- No vendor workaround published.
- Do not connect untrusted MCP clients or AI agents to DroidMind.
- Keep the MCP transport bound to localhost.
- Use test devices only, not production or personal phones.
- Revoke ADB authorisation on devices when DroidMind is not in use.
- Require human approval for shell and reboot actions.
Exploitation
- Not known to be exploited in the wild.
- VulDB reports no public exploit available.
- GitHub issue #17 contains a detailed technical report; its content has not been verified.
Our recommendation
- Check whether DroidMind is installed on any workstation or server in the environment.
- Remove DroidMind from systems where it is not needed.
- Apply the workarounds above until a fixed version is available.
- Watch the GitHub repository for a fix and update promptly when one is released.
- Monitor for unexpected reboot or shell activity on connected Android devices.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
DroidMind through 0.4.0 contains a command injection vulnerability that allows MCP clients to bypass the shell command allowlist by using $(...) or backtick substitution. Attackers, including prompt-injected agents, can inject commands through parameters interpolated into Device.run_shell() or unvalidated Device.list_directory() to run blocked commands such as reboot on connected Android devices.
