danmu_api: Authentication bypass via default token in env endpoints

CVE-2026-116485Critical 9.3

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

danmu_api before 1.21.7 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to change the server environment configuration when the default TOKEN is in use and ADMIN_TOKEN is not set. By sending POST requests to /api/env/set, /api/env/add or /api/env/del, an attacker can set ADMIN_TOKEN and lock out operators, redirect OTHER_SERVER or PROXY_URL for server-side request forgery, and trigger a redeployment. The vulnerable state is the shipped default configuration.

Affected

  • huangxd- danmu_api versions before 1.21.7 (affected range 0 to below 1.21.7)
  • Vulnerable when the default TOKEN is used and ADMIN_TOKEN is unset

Fixed in

  • Upgrade to danmu_api 1.21.7 or later (fix commit 6e93478)

Workaround

  • Change the default TOKEN and set a strong ADMIN_TOKEN (not vendor-confirmed)
  • Restrict network access to the service (VPN or internal network only)
  • Do not expose the service to the internet until it is patched

Exploitation

  • Not marked as known exploited; not listed in CISA KEV in the sources checked
  • Public detection template exists (Nuclei); no public exploit confirmed
  • In-the-wild exploitation unconfirmed

Our recommendation

  • Inventory all danmu_api deployments (Docker, Vercel, Cloudflare, NAS, VPS)
  • Upgrade to 1.21.7 or later as a priority
  • Rotate secrets stored in the environment, as they may have been read or changed
  • Remove direct internet exposure and check logs for requests to /api/env/*
  • Note: CVSS scores differ between sources; the CNA score 9.3 (CVSS 4.0) is used here

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)

danmu_api before 1.21.7 contains an authentication bypass vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to modify server environment configuration when the default TOKEN is used and ADMIN_TOKEN is unset. Attackers can send POST requests to /api/env/set, /api/env/add, or /api/env/del to set ADMIN_TOKEN, lock out operators, redirect OTHER_SERVER or PROXY_URL for SSRF, and trigger redeployment.
