Trigger.dev: Cross-site request forgery in CLI authorization flow leads to PAT takeover

CVE-2026-114089High 8.7

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Trigger.dev before 4.5.2 contains a cross-site request forgery flaw in the CLI authorization-code flow. Loading a crafted authorization URL while logged in silently creates a Personal Access Token (PAT) without any consent step, and an unauthenticated API endpoint then returns that PAT to the attacker. An attacker who lures a logged-in user to the link can take over the account, including access to all organizations and projects the user can reach.

Affected

  • Trigger.dev versions before 4.5.2 (VulnCheck: >= 0, < 4.5.2)
  • Managed cloud and self-hosted instances

Fixed in

  • Upgrade to Trigger.dev 4.5.2 or later; the latest release is recommended
  • The exact first fixed release is not confirmed by a primary source; check the GitHub advisory's patched versions field

Workaround

  • None documented by the vendor. Self-hosted operators must upgrade; hosted users depend on the provider.

Exploitation

  • Public proof of concept: yes (linked in the maintainer's advisory)
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation status PoC, automatable: no, technical impact: total
  • Not listed in CISA KEV
  • Exploitation in the wild: unknown

Our recommendation

  • Upgrade Trigger.dev to 4.5.2 or later (latest release recommended)
  • Review and revoke existing Personal Access Tokens, especially those created when a user clicked an unknown link, and rotate any token that may be exposed
  • Warn users not to open unexpected Trigger.dev authorization links while logged in
  • Monitor account and organization activity for unexpected changes

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)

Trigger.dev before 4.5.2 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the CLI authorization-code flow because loading /account/authorization-code/<code> mints a Personal Access Token without any consent step. Attackers mint an unauthenticated code, lure a logged-in user to that URL, then retrieve the victim's PAT from the unauthenticated /api/v1/token endpoint to take over the account.
