Affected

  • Google Chrome desktop builds before 156.0.8078.47
  • Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge use the same code; check their vendor advisories
  • Android: unconfirmed

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 or later (Windows and macOS builds may show .48); deploy the latest 156 stable build
  • Verify the exact fixed build in Google's advisory, which could not be fully reviewed

Workaround

  • No workaround needed where the patch is applied. Update and restart the browser.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of in-the-wild exploitation found. No public proof-of-concept found. CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no.
  • Treat the status as unknown rather than confirmed absent.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge to 156.0.8078.47 or later, preferably the latest 156 stable build.
  • Restart browsers after updating and verify the version on all desktops.
  • Prioritise machines where the browser is rarely restarted.

Public exploits
