Google Chrome: Memory corruption in ShadowDOM allows sandbox code execution

CVE-2026-113110High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome versions before 156.0.8078.47 contain a memory corruption flaw in ShadowDOM. A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox by luring a user to a crafted HTML page. The attack requires that the victim loads the page, and the CVE alone does not describe a sandbox escape.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.47 (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based browsers may be affected until they include the Chromium fix (unverified)
  • Some Linux distributions ship Chromium packages that may be affected; Ubuntu's chromium-browser package is a snap wrapper and needs the snap refreshed

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 or later (current stable build recommended; later builds 156.0.8078.79/.80 are reported, not verified)
  • Debian DSA 6577-1 and DLA 4853-1 for chromium (listed in secondary sources, not opened)

Workaround

Unknown.

  • No vendor-documented workaround. Installing the update is the required fix.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.
  • No public proof of concept or in-the-wild exploitation found; this is not a confirmed absence.
  • CISA KEV status not verified directly.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome to 156.0.8078.47 or later on all Windows, macOS and Linux workstations.
  • Check Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based applications and update them.
  • On Linux, update Chromium packages or snaps.
  • Enforce automatic updates through managed policy and check for pinned or outdated installations, such as kiosks.
  • Track the Chrome Releases post and NVD for further updates.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
