Google Chrome: Use-after-free in DevTools allows code execution in sandbox

CVE-2026-113075High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.47 contains a use-after-free vulnerability in DevTools. A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox by luring a user to a crafted HTML page. No authentication is needed, but the user must load the page. Code execution is limited to the sandbox, and no sandbox escape is described for this CVE.

Affected

  • Google Chrome (Desktop) before 156.0.8078.47
  • Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) before 156.0.4314.42, according to HKCERT
  • Other Chromium-based builds that include the same code, such as Linux distribution packages (fixed package versions unknown)

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome: latest Stable build of Chrome 156 or newer; the exact patched build per platform is unknown
  • Microsoft Edge: 156.0.4314.42 or later

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor workaround has been identified; updating is the remedy.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, not automatable, total technical impact
  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild found
  • No public proof of concept found

Our recommendation

  • Verify Chrome, Edge and Chromium versions on all managed endpoints, including Linux and snap installations
  • Update Chrome to the latest Stable build of 156 or newer and Edge to 156.0.4314.42 or later
  • Check that automatic updates work and restart browsers after updating
  • Treat as a priority patch for the next maintenance window; not an emergency unless a sandbox escape is published

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
