CVE-2026-113073High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A use-after-free vulnerability (CWE-416) in the Browser component of Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.47 allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attack requires that a user visits a crafted HTML page, for example through phishing or a compromised website. NVD rates the issue CVSS 8.8 (High). The Chromium tracker linked in the CVE record appears to describe a different flaw, so the mapping is not confirmed.

Affected

  • Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.47 (desktop)
  • Chromium-based browsers that depend on the affected Chromium version, for example Microsoft Edge (per HKCERT bulletin)
  • Linux distributions that package Chromium (Debian, Ubuntu snap): check the vendor advisories

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 or later (per CVE record; Windows and macOS builds are listed as 156.0.8078.48 or later by secondary sources)
  • Microsoft Edge 156.0.4314.42 or later (per HKCERT bulletin)
  • Always install the latest Stable build; later builds exist.

Workaround

Unknown.

  • No workaround is needed once the browser is updated.

Exploitation

  • No confirmed exploitation in the wild found; no CISA KEV entry found.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
  • EPSS about 0.0044 (per Vulners).

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome and all Chromium-based browsers (including Edge) to the latest Stable build.
  • Relaunch the browser after the automatic update so that the fix takes effect.
  • Check managed devices for outdated browser versions and enforce automatic updates.
  • Check Linux and snap deployments against the distribution advisories.
  • Monitor for unusual browser crashes or unexpected code execution on endpoints.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
