Google Chrome: Use-after-free in Actor component allows code execution in sandbox

CVE-2026-113041High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome contains a use-after-free vulnerability in the Actor component (CVE-2026-113041, CVSS 8.8). A remote attacker can trigger it with a crafted HTML page, and successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution inside the browser sandbox. User interaction is required, since the victim must visit the page, and no public exploit or in-the-wild exploitation has been reported.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.47

The sources differ on the exact build boundary for Windows and macOS (156.0.8078.47 or .48); see recommendation.

Fixed in

  • Linux and Android: 156.0.8078.47 (per secondary coverage)
  • Windows and macOS: 156.0.8078.47 or .48 (per secondary coverage; vendor release page not verified)
  • iOS/iPadOS: 156.0.8078.54 (per secondary coverage)
  • Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based): 156.0.4314.42 or later (per HKCERT; confirm with Microsoft)
  • Debian chromium: DSA 6577-1 and DLA 4853-1 issued; fixed package versions unknown
  • Ubuntu chromium-browser: not affected (wrapper); the Chromium snap must be refreshed

Workaround

No workaround documented. Installing the fixed build is the remedy.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild found.
  • CISA KEV: a third-party tracker lists it as not in KEV; not verified against the CISA catalogue.
  • EPSS about 0.004 (low exploit probability) per Vulners.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA SSVC: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome on all managed endpoints; on Windows and macOS, require version 156.0.8078.48 or later as a conservative target.
  • Update Chromium-based Edge to 156.0.4314.42 or later and verify with Microsoft.
  • Refresh the Chromium snap on Ubuntu and install Debian chromium security updates.
  • Restart the browser after updating, so the new version is active.
  • Check installed browser versions across the fleet and treat this as a high-priority browser update.
  • Monitor for exploitation reports, as an earlier Actor use-after-free (CVE-2026-95345) shows recurring bugs in this component.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
