A remote attacker can use a crafted HTML page to execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox, which is rated CVSS 8.8 by NVD. The attack requires that a user visits the malicious page, for example through a phishing link or a compromised website. Chromium rates the issue Low severity.

Affected

Workaround

Unknown. No workaround is documented; apply the update and restart the browser.

Exploitation

  • No active exploitation known at the time of research.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV according to a secondary source; the live catalog was not checked.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge to the fixed versions on all endpoints and check the installed version, not only whether an update was offered.
  • Restart browsers after updating, because old browser processes may keep running.
  • Prioritize managed fleets and users who update manually.
  • Reinforce user awareness against suspicious links and untrusted websites.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
