Google Chrome: Memory corruption in Views allows code execution in sandbox

CVE-2026-112998High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Memory corruption in the Views component (Chrome's UI toolkit) in Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.47 can be triggered by a remote attacker using a crafted HTML page. Successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution inside the browser sandbox. The user must open the malicious page, but no authentication is required. Full system compromise would normally also need a separate sandbox-escape vulnerability.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.47 (per NVD)
  • VulDB describes affected versions up to 155.0.8059.84 (conflicting data)

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47 or later (per NVD and Google Chrome Releases)
  • Newer Stable builds are available; install the current Stable build

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor-documented mitigation for unpatched systems was found.

Exploitation

  • No known exploitation in the wild in the sources reviewed
  • CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total
  • Chromium rates the severity as Low
  • No public proof of concept found

Our recommendation

  • Check the Chrome version on all endpoints and update to the newest Stable build
  • Confirm that automatic updates are enabled and restart the browser after updates
  • Verify Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based browsers, and Chromium snap packages on Linux
  • Prioritise unpatched Chrome installations because Chrome is the dominant browser

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
