FlyCms: Default super administrator credentials

CVE-2026-112296Critical 9.3

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

FlyCms through commit edfdf724 ships with a default super administrator account (flycms) that uses the publicly known password admin123. An unauthenticated remote attacker who solves the image captcha can log in via POST /api/auth/login and gain full control over site content, users and configuration. The flaw is in the default configuration and does not require any special conditions beyond an unchanged account.

Affected

  • FlyCms through commit edfdf724c3b944310f60c29aa755d03a00a75837
  • Versions are commit-based; no tagged release numbers were identified.

Fixed in

Unknown.

Workaround

  • Change the password of the default account flycms on every installation, including test and staging systems.
  • Disable the default account if it is not required.
  • Restrict access to the admin login and API paths to trusted networks at the reverse proxy or firewall.

Exploitation

  • Exploited in the wild: nothing known.
  • Public proof of concept: unclear. The researcher in GitHub issue #19 reported verifying the default login on an unmodified deployment.
  • Authentication: none required beyond solving the image captcha.

Our recommendation

  • Inventory all FlyCms installations, including test systems and forgotten instances.
  • Change or disable the default account flycms immediately and review logs for logins with that account.
  • Limit administrator access to trusted networks until a fixed version is confirmed.
  • Monitor GitHub issue #19 and the vendor repository for a fix, and re-check the NVD status.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
