Thecosy IceCMS: SQL injection via WebResource findresourcebynum
Summary
IceCMS through version 4.1.5 contains an SQL injection flaw in the num path parameter of /WebResource/findresourcebynum. The endpoint requires no authentication and no user interaction, so a remote attacker can inject SQL after the LIMIT clause. The attacker can extract database contents using union-based or blind techniques.
Affected
- Thecosy IceCMS, versions 0 up to and including 4.1.5
Fixed in
Unknown. No vendor advisory or fixed version was found.
Workaround
- Restrict public access to the IceCMS instance, for example behind a VPN or an allow-list.
- As a temporary measure, deploy a web application firewall rule that detects SQL injection patterns in the num parameter. A WAF rule is not a fix and can be bypassed.
- Run the application with a read-only, least-privilege database account.
Exploitation
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation status 'poc' (proof of concept), automatable: yes, technical impact: partial.
- A public technical write-up exists. Known exploitation in the wild: Unknown.
Our recommendation
- Identify all IceCMS instances, including forgotten test or legacy sites, and record their versions.
- If an instance is internet-facing, restrict access now and monitor logs for SQL error messages or unusual requests to /WebResource/findresourcebynum.
- Rotate database and application credentials and check the database for signs of data extraction.
- If no vendor fix is available and the instance is required, plan a replacement or decommission the product. Assess any data-protection reporting obligations with legal advice if exploitation is suspected.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
IceCMS through 4.1.5 contains an unauthenticated sql injection vulnerability that allows remote attackers to inject SQL by supplying a crafted num path parameter to /WebResource/findresourcebynum. Attackers can append SQL after the LIMIT clause concatenated via QueryWrapper.last() to extract database contents using union-based or blind techniques.
