Tribulant Newsletters plugin: SQL injection

CVE-2026-111402Critical 9.3

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

The WordPress Newsletters plugin (newsletters-lite) by Tribulant Software contains an SQL injection vulnerability in versions up to 4.18.1. An attacker can send crafted requests to the website to read, modify or delete data in the database, including user accounts and private data. The CVSS vector assumes no authentication is required, but this is not fully confirmed, because the vendor changelog describes an administrator-only SQL injection in version 4.18.1.

Affected

  • Newsletters WordPress plugin (newsletters-lite), versions up to and including 4.18.1 according to Patchstack and the CNA
  • Version ranges in the vendor changelog and VulDB differ; verify the installed version

Fixed in

  • Version 4.18.2 is the patched version according to Patchstack; update to 4.18.2 or later
  • The vendor has not explicitly confirmed that 4.18.2 fixes this exact flaw

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor workaround found. Patchstack provides a mitigation rule that blocks attacks until the update is applied. A web application firewall or virtual patch may help, but its effectiveness against this flaw is unverified.

Exploitation

  • Not listed in CISA KEV; CISA SSVC data lists exploitation as none and automatable as yes
  • No public proof of concept found
  • Patchstack expects exploitation, but this is a forecast, not an observed event

Our recommendation

  • Check whether the plugin is installed and which version runs; update to 4.18.2 or later immediately
  • If an update is not possible, ask the hosting provider or web developer for help and consider a WAF or the Patchstack mitigation rule
  • Review user and subscriber tables for unexpected changes
  • Monitor web server logs for suspicious requests

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
