Google Chrome: Improper input validation in Desktop component

CVE-2026-110916Critical 9.6

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Improper input validation in the Desktop component of Google Chrome before 155.0.8059.84 allows a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the browser sandbox. The attacker needs a crafted HTML page, so a user must visit it, for example via a link in an email or a compromised website. Google rates the issue Medium in its own severity scale, while the NVD CVSS score is 9.6 (Critical).

Affected

  • Google Chrome Desktop before 155.0.8059.84
  • Chromium-based browsers and Linux distributions: depends on their own fixes (unknown)

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.84 (Linux) and 155.0.8059.84/.85 (Windows, macOS), Stable Channel Update of 15 October 2026

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround is listed.
  • Update Chrome and confirm that managed endpoints have actually received the update. Do not rely only on auto-update.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of in-the-wild exploitation; not listed in CISA KEV.
  • No public proof-of-concept found.
  • EPSS is 0.21%, a low predicted probability of exploitation.
  • Chromium bug details are restricted.

Our recommendation

  • Update Chrome to 155.0.8059.84 or later on all endpoints in the emergency or next-day cycle.
  • Verify the update on managed devices (Group Policy, Intune or similar).
  • Install the whole Google release, which fixes ten Chrome vulnerabilities.
  • Check Linux systems and Ubuntu snap installations separately.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
