Google Chrome: Use-after-free in Compositing component

CVE-2026-110915High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome for desktop contains a use-after-free flaw (CWE-416) in the Compositing component, which handles drawing of page content. A remote attacker can host or inject a crafted HTML page; when a user visits it, the attacker may execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attack requires user interaction (opening the page) but no privileges.

Affected

  • Google Chrome for Windows, macOS and Linux prior to 155.0.8059.84

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.84 (Windows and macOS: 155.0.8059.84/.85; Linux: 155.0.8059.84)
  • Later stable releases also include the fix; install the latest stable version

Workaround

  • No workaround is known. Update Chrome.
  • Keep automatic updates enabled or enforce a minimum Chrome version via management tools or group policy.

Exploitation

  • Google has not reported active exploitation in the wild.
  • CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, not automatable, total technical impact.
  • Not listed in the CISA KEV catalog.
  • No public proof of concept known.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome on all endpoints to the latest stable version.
  • Verify the Chrome version on managed devices and enforce a minimum version.
  • Restrict or monitor browsing of untrusted sites on systems that have not been updated.
  • Check whether other Chromium-based browsers (e.g. Edge, Brave) are installed and update them per their vendors' advisories.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
