Report One MyReport Updater: Local privilege escalation via updater service

CVE-2026-110633High 8.5

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

MyReport Updater through version 2.1.1 contains a local privilege escalation flaw in its SYSTEM-level updater service. A low-privileged local user can instruct the service via its gRPC interface to set a malicious reference server and install attacker-supplied archives into arbitrary directories, for example by planting a DLL that a privileged process loads. This leads to code execution as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The attacker needs a local logon on the affected Windows system.

Affected

  • MyReport Updater 0 to 2.1.1 (per CVE record; default state unaffected)

Fixed in

Unknown. No vendor advisory or fixed Updater version was found.

Workaround

  • No vendor workaround identified.
  • Restrict local logons to hosts running MyReport Updater.
  • Restrict access to UpdaterManager.exe and the updater's gRPC port (TCP 9095).

Exploitation

  • Public technical write-up by Quarkslab published 13 October 2026.
  • No reports of active exploitation in the wild found.
  • Public PoC code status unknown.

Our recommendation

  • Inventory systems with MyReport Updater 2.1.1 or earlier, especially multi-user systems, terminal servers and shared workstations.
  • Ask Report One / MyReport for a patch and the fixed version before closing the finding.
  • Restrict local logons and limit who can run the updater.
  • Block external access to TCP port 9095 and monitor for unexpected DLLs or archives in the Updater and program directories.
  • Recheck NVD and CISA KEV status before the final rating.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)

MyReport Updater through 2.1.1 contains a local privilege escalation vulnerability that allows low-privileged users to make the SYSTEM updater service install attacker-supplied archives into arbitrary directories. Attackers can use UpdaterManager.exe over gRPC to set a malicious reference server and installLocation, planting a DLL like HID.dll loaded by osk.exe to gain SYSTEM privileges.
