Finsys Dockhand: Response-disclosing SSRF in compose template endpoint
Summary
Finsys Dockhand before 1.0.43 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the /api/templates/compose endpoint. An authenticated user with access to the template deployment feature can make the Dockhand server fetch arbitrary URLs and read the response body. This can expose internal services, cloud metadata endpoints, credentials and tokens.
Affected
- Finsys Dockhand 0 to before 1.0.43 (GHSA lists v1.0.42 as affected)
Fixed in
- Finsys Dockhand 1.0.43 (per CNA record; verify in vendor release notes)
- Running the latest release is recommended
Workaround
Unknown.
Exploitation
- No public proof of concept found at the time of research.
- One aggregator reports exploitation attempts, not confirmed by CISA KEV, the vendor or VulnCheck.
- EPSS 0.26%.
- CISA SSVC: exploitation poc, not automatable.
Our recommendation
- Upgrade Dockhand to the latest release, at least 1.0.43.
- Limit Dockhand accounts to required users and review accounts with template or deploy permissions.
- Do not expose the Dockhand UI to the internet; use a VPN or authenticating reverse proxy.
- Restrict outbound traffic from the Dockhand host, especially to metadata endpoints (169.254.169.254) and internal management ports.
- Check whether the separate Critical Dockhand advisory (unauthenticated container exec via WebSocket upgrade) is fixed in the same version.
Public exploits
PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.

Original description (NVD)
Finsys Dockhand before 1.0.43 contains a response-disclosing server-side request forgery vulnerability that allows authenticated users to make the server fetch arbitrary URLs by supplying repository URL and stackfile values. Attackers can send stack templates pointing to internal services or cloud metadata endpoints and read the fetched content from the compose response field, exposing credentials and tokens.
