Google Chrome: Use-after-free in V8 JavaScript engine allows sandboxed code execution

CVE-2026-110168High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A use-after-free flaw in the V8 JavaScript engine of Google Chrome (CWE-416) lets a remote attacker execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attacker needs the victim to open a crafted HTML page, so any web browsing or web-based mail can expose the flaw. The sources describe code execution in the renderer sandbox only; a separate sandbox escape would be needed for full system compromise, and none is described.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 155.0.8059.79 (desktop, per the CVE description)
  • Older affected branches: Unknown.
  • Other Chromium-based browsers (e.g. Edge, Brave, Vivaldi): Unknown, check with the vendor.

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.79 or later (Chrome Releases, 13 Oct 2026)
  • Linux distributions: use the distribution's advisory for exact package versions (e.g. Debian tracker lists 155.0.8059.79-1~deb12u1 for bookworm)

Workaround

  • No workaround documented in the sources. Update is the only remediation found.
  • Restart the browser after updating, because a long-running session keeps the old code loaded.

Exploitation

  • CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, not automatable, total technical impact.
  • Not listed in the CISA KEV catalogue according to a secondary aggregator (unverified).
  • No public proof of concept known.
  • No in-the-wild exploitation reported in the sources found.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome to 155.0.8059.79 or later on all endpoints and verify the running version.
  • Restart Chrome after the update.
  • Patch the whole Chrome 155 release, which also fixed 37 further security issues.
  • Check Chromium-based browsers and Linux packages separately, as they may have their own fixed builds.
  • Monitor for unusual browser crashes or behaviour.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
