Google Chrome: Use-after-free in Canvas

CVE-2026-110154High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Canvas component of Google Chrome desktop allows a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. Exploitation requires the victim to load a crafted HTML page, for example through a malicious or compromised website, a malvertising banner or a phishing link. Chromium rates the issue as High, and CVSS 3.1 scores it 8.8.

Affected

  • Google Chrome desktop versions prior to 155.0.8059.79
  • Unknown: exact affected builds for Chrome on Android

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.79 (Linux)
  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.79 or 155.0.8059.80 (Windows, Mac)
  • Linux distributions: fixed chromium packages were published by Debian (DSA-6562-1, DLA-4838-1) and Fedora; Ubuntu lists its chromium-browser package as not affected because it ships the Chromium snap, which is updated separately

Workaround

Unknown. No vendor-recommended workaround was found. Once the patched build is installed, no workaround is needed.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of in-the-wild exploitation was found in the sources reviewed; the vendor release text does not mention it.
  • Not listed in CISA KEV according to two trackers.
  • EPSS: 0.21%.
  • No public proof of concept was found in initial searches; this has not been verified in detail.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome to 155.0.8059.79 or later (Windows and Mac: .79 or .80) on all endpoints, prioritising staff who browse the web.
  • Verify installed versions with your management tools and check that managed devices receive the update.
  • Ask staff to restart Chrome after updates, because a pending update only takes effect after a restart.
  • Include other Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Opera and Brave in the update scope and check their vendor advisories.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
