Google Chrome: Use-after-free in Media component

CVE-2026-110153High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

Google Chrome desktop versions prior to 155.0.8059.79 contain a use-after-free flaw in the Media component. A remote attacker can exploit it by luring a user to a crafted HTML page, which may allow arbitrary code execution inside the browser sandbox. The victim must visit the page, but no privileges are required. The advisory does not describe a sandbox escape.

Affected

  • Google Chrome desktop prior to 155.0.8059.79
  • Ubuntu: the chromium-browser package is marked not affected because it installs the Chromium snap

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.79 or later (Windows and Mac 155.0.8059.79/.80, Linux 155.0.8059.79)
  • Debian: 155.0.8059.79-1~deb12u1
  • Ubuntu: refresh the Chromium snap

Workaround

Unknown. No workaround is documented; updating is the only mitigation in the sources.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild found; not verified against the CISA KEV catalogue.
  • No public proof of concept found for this CVE.
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Update Chrome to 155.0.8059.79 or later, preferably the current stable build.
  • Check the installed version on all endpoints, including Chromium-based browsers and Ubuntu snaps.
  • Confirm that automatic updates work and restart browsers so the update takes effect.
  • Monitor for news on exploitation and a KEV listing.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
