Google Chrome: Use-after-free in Media allows code execution in sandbox

CVE-2026-110151High 8.8

← All vulnerabilities

Summary

A use-after-free flaw in the Media component of Google Chrome allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attacker needs only to lure a user to a crafted HTML page, and no authentication is required. A sandbox escape would be needed for full system compromise.

Affected

  • Google Chrome prior to 155.0.8059.79

Fixed in

  • Google Chrome 155.0.8059.79 and later (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • Debian bookworm chromium: 155.0.8059.79-1~deb12u1
  • Ubuntu: update the Chromium snap, as the chromium-browser package is not affected

Workaround

  • No workaround is needed when a patch is available. Patching is the only reliable mitigation.
  • If patching is delayed, enforce automatic updates and restart the browser, as updates apply only after relaunch.
  • No vendor-recommended interim workaround is known.

Exploitation

  • No evidence of exploitation in the wild found.
  • No public proof of concept found.
  • CISA SSVC: Exploitation none, Automatable no, Technical Impact total.

Our recommendation

  • Update Google Chrome on all endpoints to 155.0.8059.79 or the current stable release without delay.
  • Verify the installed version on all systems, including the Chromium snap on Ubuntu.
  • Enforce automatic updates and ensure browsers are restarted after updates.
  • Warn users about phishing links and malicious advertisements that lead to unknown web pages.

Public exploits

PoC-in-GitHub, Metasploit and Exploit-DB list nothing for this CVE.
